God has an incredible purpose for us in this life. We get to know and love the God of the universe, and even participate in his plans. Our amazing privilege is to live for the glory of God and spread His name and His fame throughout the earth. And if this were not enough, Jesus has promised us abundant life and joy not dependent on any life circumstance.
Even though we know all this, we lose focus and become weighed down with cares, defeat, past hurts, the sin that so easily entangles our feet. We give into the lure of sin and become bound by it. This Easter, we will focus on expanding the kingdom of God in a series called Storming the Castle. However, to be ready to storm the castle, we must first be freed from the dungeon. In this series we will focus on overcoming the strongholds of sin in our lives, unlocking the chains of unforgiveness and past injustice, breaking the power of curses, opening the prison doors of passivity in order to free us. This Freedom will prepare us as the troops God has chosen to further his kingdom in this neighborhood in this time.
We will divide Sunday service into three parts-worship, preaching and testimony. We will begin with Worship where we look to our great God and Savior. Then move into the Preaching where we will look to Scripture to identify a particular area of bondage and freedom. After the preaching will come a time of Testimony, where a few individuals will share their experience of bondage and freedom according to the mornings topic. After worship, prayer teams will stay in the sanctuary to minister with those who wish to confront and overcome their own areas of bondage. These people will be invited to testify in worship how God has released them from their chains.
